This is another film by director Shinji Somai, the second posted here on the blog after Love Hotel, which, as I said in another post, was a director who made a lot of use of young actors, especially kids, as well as rising J-Pop idols, and here we have the actress Tomoko Tabata at the tender age of 13, not to mention the fact that this is her first film.

This is definitely one of the best films by director Shinji Somai and is especially about how children are confused by the separation of their parents, how they deal with it, because many of them don't understand it and here Tomoko Tabata does an excellent job in her first film role, not only because of her talent, but also thanks to the director who put the children to work as if they were adults. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 53 in 2001 and directed around 13 films in total, many of them with child actors and really quite touching.

The movie also has a beautiful soundtrack, lots of analogies and beautiful scenes such as one in which the protagonist goes on a kind of spiritual journey and even sees her parents leaving in the middle of the ocean, which is probably where her maturity begins.

In the movie we also have the participation of the actress and singer Junko Sakurada, who plays the mother of the protagonist. She had a successful musical career in the 1970s, first in a trio and then as a solo artist from '73 to '81, retiring in 1993 after her wedding, which, by the way, was her last movie, when she was 35 years old.
